大部分英文单数名词（大概九成五以上）有冠词（a/an/the)，要不然会用复数。很多华人学生写英文都直接加名词，不理有没有冠词，也不管单数还是复数。没有加冠词，英文会听起来像小学生写出来的英文，所以一定要注意。

如果用the，意思是「只有一个」，或是指一个「之前已经提到的东西」。
The可以想成是等同于this/that，指某一个特定的东西。

如果是复数名词，前面加the，意思是特定的或已经提到过的一群，可以想成是等同于these/those。如果复数名词前面没有the，意思就是单单是复数。
另外，有加the，意思是这一群中的每一个都怎么样怎么样。如果没有加the，意思是这一群中，有的是这样，有的不是这样。
For example:
The students really hate math.=(All of)those students really hate math.
那一群学生非常讨厌数学，而且那一群中的每一位都非常讨厌数学。
Students really hate math.=Students really hate math(but not all of them hate math).
没有特别指哪一群学生，就是普遍指学生讨厌数学，而且有的学生讨厌数学，有的并没有讨厌数学。
